Penny STEM Activity

Reported by jill_defarno@ipsd.org on 2/12/18

Fifth graders in Mr. Niezgoda's class tested how many drops of water would fit on a penny. Students followed the scientific method to make a hypothesis on the number of drops that would fit on the heads and tails sides of a penny. They repeated the experiment and analyzed the results. Students then discussed in groups any differences they found between the sides and possible reasons for any difference.

This is part of Builta's initiative to provide students with varied STEM activities that promote critical thinking. communication, collaboration and creativity.
