IPEF Awards Grants to Builta Teachers
Congratulations to Builta LMC Director Jill DeFarno and Music Teacher Mary Schmitz. Both were awarded 2017 IPEF Grants.
Mrs. DeFarno received $1831 for her proposal entitled “Make Your Space.” All students will be benefiting from this grant as EverBlocks will be purchased for the LMC. These will allow students and staff to collaborate, design and build a variety of different structures that will reimagine the library space according to activity.
Mrs. Schmitz was awarded $1500 for her proposal entitled “U Can Uke.” Thanks to this grant, 4th and 5th grade students will now be able to expand their musical knowledge and skills through learning to play the ukuele.
The Indian Prairie Educational Foundation was established in 1988 to enrich education in District 204. The IPEF has given away more than $800,000 in grants to staff through their annual grants program. You can visit https://www.ipef204.org/grant-recipients/ to see the full list of grant recipients for the 2017-18 school year. Grants are made possible thanks to parents who contribute to the IPEF on their registration form, general donations and through the efforts of Team IPEF. Builta has received seven grants totaling more than $6300 in the past six years.
Builta staff and students would like to thank the Indian Prairie Educational Foundation for its continued support and generosity!
