NVHS Art Club and Builta Collaborate on Mural

Reported by jill_Defarno@ipsd.org on 2/12/19

The Neuqua Valley Art Club is painting one of the sensory rooms at Builta with visuals from the Disney movie "Inside Out" and a social/emotional learning curriculum known as "Zones of Regulation." Sometimes school can be overwhelming for students. The sensory room is a quiet space, free of distraction, where students can emotionally regulate. Zones of Regulation help teach students strategies to become independent in controlling their emotions and learning coping tools to self-regulate. The NVHS art club is painting visuals from the zones and coping tools on the walls to help students utilize the skills in the sensory room. Builta staff gave the artists general ideas, and they created the murals that they are painting on the walls. They also supplied all the materials! It’s an awesome collaboration, and we are so lucky they volunteered to do this!
